So , I will write in malay and english wherever i feel comfortable. Broken or not broken is not an issue overhere. Sebab kkdang susah la nak story teknikal dalam bahasa melayu ! Feel hilang bro! Pun begitu akan cuba di usahakan sebaiknya utk pembaca melayu.

roslan othman has been a linux/oss user and advocate for more than 11 years now. The sharing trend in the open source community really fascinated him. He started to use and explore the challenges and advantages of using the open source software, then. At that time a lot of software world were dominated by commercial software.

Being a student with less $$ at that time, he was forced to learn things the hard way. At that time, no colleges or universities esp in Malaysia offering any linux/oss classes yet.

With  his experiences, he started to give back by helping friends installing and using OSS. After a while , he  started to hand his experience to small and nearby organizations,consulting and giving advice on OSS implementation in organizations.

Up until now, he is still holding the same aspiration; bringing OSS to the masses.

He definitely will love to help and promoting  NPOs (Non-profit Organizations) to use more OSS.

He read & code some perl,php,sql,bash and awk.

Advantages :

For day PC user and managers : if you hate viruses, spy ware,ad-ware,mal-ware than you should consider OSS. At least they have far less viruses than those commecial software.

Your software and data will last longer even you forget to do backups! 2 years on average.

For programmers and sys admin: you can tweak that application, dudes.

Disadvantages :

Hardware recognition are quite tight though , especially on printers, scanners and other multimedia gadgets like phones,cameras.(Need some homework before using or implement) . But it has improving a lot since then.

Daily PC users hate to tweak their PCs by code!.

Acknowledgement :

A lot of people in OSS community has spent thousand of working hours to develop and give support to free software usage. OSS groups and sharing culture evolve and expand only due to continues contributions from community. So , please consider to contribute some.
